Private Events at Nectar. Your Space, Your Evening, Your Way.

Special Events at Nectar

One of the questions I get asked more and more is whether Nectar can be hired for a private event. The answer is yes, and the follow-up question is always the same: what kind of event are you imagining?

That question is where every event at Nectar begins, and it is the most important one we ask, because the answer shapes everything that follows. This article is the honest map of everything we host, what each format actually looks like, and where to go if you already know roughly what you want and are ready for the detail.

A space built to adapt

When we designed Nectar, one of the things we were deliberate about from the very beginning was flexibility. The venue has multiple areas that can be configured differently depending on the size and style of the event, and a full venue hire option accommodating up to 60 guests for anything larger. A standing reception feels completely different from a seated dinner. A cocktail-led evening with music has a different energy from a relaxed afternoon gathering with wine and sharing plates. The space can hold both, and a lot of versions in between.

There is no fixed formula for an event at Nectar. Every enquiry starts with a conversation, and every event is built from that conversation outward, because we are a small team who care about the experience every person at Nectar has, and that care does not stop at the door when a private event comes in.

Birthdays, corporate evenings and cocktail masterclasses

These are the three event types we host most often, and each has its own dedicated piece written with the depth the occasion deserves.

Birthdays are, without question, the most common private event we host, and how the evening is shaped depends entirely on the size of the group, from an intimate table for two through to full venue hire for a milestone celebration. If a birthday is what you are planning, our full guide to hosting a birthday at Nectar walks through exactly how the room, the food and the pacing of the night change as your numbers grow.

Corporate evenings do not have to feel corporate, and the format options are broad, from a standing reception with canapé-style dishes for larger teams to a seated sharing dinner for smaller ones. For the full detail on room capacities, pricing and how private dining actually works at Nectar, the private dining guide is the place to go.

Cocktail masterclasses are one of the most popular formats we offer, for birthday groups, corporate teams and hen parties alike. Panos leads sessions that range from beginner shaking and technique through to advanced infusion and clarification workshops for groups who want to go further. The full masterclass article covers exactly what a session looks like, the cocktails we teach with, and how to book one for your group.

Wedding receptions

Nectar is available for wedding receptions, and it is a format we are genuinely excited to keep developing. The venue has the intimacy, the warmth and the quality of food and drink that make a reception feel personal rather than institutional. For couples who want something away from the traditional hotel ballroom, a reception at Nectar offers a genuinely different kind of evening: Mediterranean sharing plates across a long table, handcrafted cocktails, a room that feels like somewhere people actually want to be rather than a hired space that has been temporarily decorated for the occasion.

We are building out our wedding reception offering and would love to hear from couples in the early stages of planning. The conversation costs nothing and we have a lot of ideas. Get in touch directly at team@nectarbar.co.uk and let us know what you are imagining.

Baby showers, tastings and afternoon gatherings

Not every private event needs a late finish or a loud atmosphere.

We have hosted baby showers, wine tastings, book groups and relaxed afternoon gatherings where the focus is simply good company in a comfortable setting. Sometimes a long table, a selection of sharing plates and a few bottles of wine chosen by the team is exactly the right answer to what an event needs to be.

For daytime and early evening bookings, the venue has a warmth and quietness that it does not always have later on Friday and Saturday nights. That version of Nectar, calm and unhurried and full of good food, suits intimate gatherings of this kind exceptionally well, and it is a format that does not currently have its own dedicated article on the blog, which is where this piece does the most work.

Seasonal and themed events

Throughout the year we host seasonal celebrations and themed evenings that go beyond the standard menu experience.

Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and New Year's Eve all bring their own character to the venue, and we invest in making each one feel distinct rather than simply decorating the room and calling it an event. Greek Night on the last Friday of every month has become a permanent fixture in this category, and we also work with guest chefs, host pop-up collaborations and create entertainment-focused evenings that give regular guests something new to experience.

If you are interested in hosting a themed private event, whether that is a Mediterranean-inspired dinner party, a cocktail tasting evening built around a specific spirit, or something else entirely, we are open to the conversation. Some of our best events have come from ideas we had never considered before someone asked.

How to start planning

The process is straightforward. Get in touch with us directly at team@nectarbar.co.uk or call 0131 558 9156. Tell us what you are imagining, how many people you are expecting, the kind of atmosphere you want to create, and any dates in mind. From there we will come back with options, a proposed format and pricing built around your specific event rather than a standard package.

There is no minimum spend threshold that makes an enquiry worth having. Small gatherings of eight to ten people are as welcome as full venue hires for fifty. Every event gets the same level of attention because every event matters to the people it is for.

If you already know the event you are planning falls into birthdays, corporate evenings, or cocktail masterclasses, the three linked guides above will give you everything you need. If it is something else, a wedding, a baby shower, a themed evening, or an idea we have not thought of yet, this is the right place to start the conversation.
