How to Order Food at Nectar

At Nectar, food is meant to be shared.

Our menu is designed to encourage conversation, variety and enjoyment around the table, rather than following the traditional structure of starters and mains. If this is your first visit, here is the easiest way to approach ordering and make the most of the experience.

Set table at Nectar

A Menu Built for Everyone at the Table

One of the first things you will notice is how the menu is laid out.

On the left-hand side, you will find vegan and vegetarian dishes. On the right-hand side, meat and fish dishes take centre stage. At the bottom of the menu, you will see platters that bring a bit of everything together, as well as smaller dishes that work well for snacking.

The layout is intentional. It makes it easier to build a table that suits everyone, whether dietary preferences are similar or completely different.

No Starters, No Mains, No Rules

There are no starters or mains at Nectar.

Everything arrives as it is ready, and the table quickly fills with plates. Because of this, the first thing we always recommend is a quick conversation at the table. Decide how you want to eat.

Are you all sharing everything, or is it more of an individual meal where dishes stay closer to each person? There is no right answer, but agreeing on this early makes ordering much easier.

Sharing Is Where the Fun Is

If you decide to share, the best approach is to look through the menu together and pick dishes that genuinely excite you. The more variety that ends up on the table, the better the experience tends to be.

Everyone will usually find something they love, and just as importantly, the discussion that happens around the table becomes part of the meal. Choosing together, tasting together and comparing dishes is often what guests remember most.

Individual Dishes Still Have Their Place

Some dishes, such as the slow cooked pork belly or pan-fried sea bass, naturally feel more individual due to their size and structure. That said, these dishes are still frequently shared.

If one of them catches your eye, do not let the idea of sharing put you off. They sit comfortably alongside smaller plates and often become highlights of the table.

How Much Is Enough?

This is one of the questions we are asked most often, and the answer depends on a few things: how hungry you are, whether you are sharing, and what you are ordering.

As a general guideline for one person, we usually suggest:

  • one dish from the meat or fish section, which tend to be slightly larger

  • one dish from the vegan or vegetarian side

If the table is sharing, adding something like the cheese filo pastry is always a good idea. It is a crowd favourite, easy to divide, and the combination of cheese, honey and sesame works beautifully for everyone.

What to Drink With Your Food

While some dishes on the menu suggest cocktail pairings, there is no expectation to order cocktails unless you want to.

We are very proud of our wine list, and the team will always be happy to recommend a wine that works well with your food choices. Beer and soft drinks are also available, so you can order in whatever way feels right for you.

Dessert, or One More Drink?

Our desserts are traditional Greek sponge cakes and pies, known as pita in Greek.

The selection is short and sweet, and each option is different. Choose the one that appeals to you most, or share if you prefer. If you feel satisfied and do not want to eat more, switching to a cocktail is always a good alternative.

There is no pressure to finish the meal in any particular way.
